At the World Expo opened on June 14th in Zaragoza, Spain which will last three months, small commodities from Yiwu were heavily promoted in the merchandise shops of Chinese Hall. With the modern design, wide varieties, good quality and low prices, these commodities have attracted visitors from all over the world to appreciate and buy.
This World Expo is themed by ¡°Water and Sustainable Development¡±. 105 countries and international organizations including China participated in the exhibition and put the products relevant to water and sustainable development on display, such as waterpower generating equipment, water conservation equipment, purifying equipment as well as fresh water treatment and recycling equipment in favor of urban sustainable development, etc. There are 140 exhibition halls in the Zaragoza World Expo with a total exhibition area of over 60,000 M2. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Ministry of Water Resources came to open the hall and attend the exhibition on behalf of Chinese government and asked Yiwu to set up merchandise shops at Chinese Hall.
The Chinese Hall covers an area of around 1200M2 and it is one of the biggest foreign halls among all at this World Expo. The Chinese Hall is themed by ¡°Human and Water Back to Harmony¡± and consists of 5 parts including ¡°Chinese Rivers and Chinese Civilization¡±, ¡°Chinese Water Conservancy Projects and Maritime Silk Road¡±, ¡°the Movie <Shui De>¡±, ¡°Harmonious Interaction between Human and Water¡± and ¡°Publicity Zone for 2010 Shanghai World Expo¡±. It presents the history, achievement and experience of water control and management of generations of Chinese people through high-tech means.
Invited by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Yiwu Municipal Government appointed the Commodity Plaza Group to undertake the merchandise shops at Chinese Hall and exhibit a batch of commodities with rich Chinese nationality characteristics and traditional culture features at the opening of World Expo. There are over 1000 kinds of commodities including pottery and porcelain, Suzhou embroidery, silk, decorations, handicraft articles, Olympic products, paper fans, Tibet ornaments, dough sculptures, shadow figures, picture frames, vases, dolls in national costumes, Beijing opera facial masks, etc. The packages of these commodities are all marked with symbols and characters of Yiwu and China Commodity City. There are also live performances of calligraphy and the art of seal-engraving, which have attracted large crowds as well as great worldwide media attention.
